Moisture content

When burning logs in your stove make sure you are burning wood with a maximum of 20% moisture content. As burning logs with a high moisture content can leave large tar deposits in the flue resulting in a poor draw, causing your stove to smoke. In some cases flues may need to be swept up to four times a season or even result in a chimney liner replacement or even a chimney fire.
